Sylvain Pataille stands out as a beacon of dedication and perseverance, significantly enhancing both the quality and reputation of wines from his village. Together with his brother Laurent, they cultivate 15 hectares of vineyards situated solely in Marsannay. Their relentless efforts to recognize certain exceptional terrains in Marsannay as 1er Cru are nearing fruition. Sylvain's hands, coarse and reminiscent of constant toil, are a testament to his dedication as he labors in the vineyards for nearly the whole year.

Beyond his hands-on approach, Sylvain possesses remarkable prowess as a chemist. His outstanding performance during his studies in Bordeaux led to his role as the consulting enologist for approximately 15 esteemed domaines in Burgundy, including the famed Domaine Roumier in Chambolle-Musigny and Château de la Tour in Clos Vougeot. Yet, his heart remains deeply committed to his domaine in Marsannay, a testament he nurtured from the ground up since its inaugural vintage in 1999. Much like Bruno Clair, Sylvain's unwavering advocacy for the village of Marsannay is commendable.
