Pie de Palo is situated 20 km (13 mi) south of Mendoza City, Argentina, in Cruz de Piedra district, Maipu County, where the climate is moderate in the summer and winter months. With dry air year-round, and little rainfall, the vines here maintain optimal health. Owned and operated by Eduardo Lapania, who works with winemaker Juan Bruzzone, Pie de Palo hand-harvests its grapes in baskets of 15 kg (33 lb), which are later carefully transported to the winery. Once in the winery, they carry out a strict selection of the best grapes.
