Sergent Pepper is a captivating red hailing from a petite 0.30-hectare plot of organic Pineau d’Aunis, lovingly tended by Dominique Norguet in Thoré-la-Rochette, Loire. While the grapes are procured, Anne-Cecile holds the reins on ripeness and harvesting schedules. Handpicked, the grapes are de-stemmed and naturally fermented in fiberglass vats for a fortnight. It then unwinds in the same vat for half a year before bottling, with a hint of SO2. The wine showcases quintessential Pineau d’Aunis notes: tantalizing watermelon and crisp white pepper. The palate is graced by dense, velvety textures infused with wild fruit and gentle tannins. Sergent Pepper is, without doubt, an embodiment of character and singularity.
